A small towel can be useful in a shared studio, but it has a different job from the venue's equipment-cleaning process.

Decide whether the towel is mainly for wiping your face, covering a permitted contact surface or drying after a shower. One very small towel may not do all three comfortably. Check the venue's rules before using a towel on equipment, particularly where loose fabric could move or catch.
Compare folded size and absorbency rather than choosing only by how soft the towel feels in a shop. A thick towel may be comfortable but take up much of a compact bag. A thin quick-drying style may pack smaller, though its feel can differ. Choose the combination you are likely to use and wash regularly.
Do not use a face towel to wipe cleaning chemicals from equipment and then return it to your skin. Follow the venue's specified products and process for shared surfaces. A towel placed on a bench is not a substitute for any cleaning required before or after use.
Keep the towel somewhere clean and accessible during the session, outside the path of moving equipment. Avoid leaving it on the floor and then using it on your face. If you bring more than one towel, make their roles easy to distinguish through size or colour.
Put a used damp towel in a suitable separate pouch for transport, then remove it when you get home. The pouch keeps other kit dry during the journey; it should not become a place where the towel stays until the next class. Let the pouch dry too.
Follow the washing label and check whether the towel will dry in the time between sessions. If it does not, a second towel may be more useful than a larger or more elaborate one. Avoid applying fragrances or fabric products that the manufacturer says will affect the material.
A simple towel without loose loops or decorative attachments is often easier to manage around equipment. Replace it when wear makes it unpleasant or impractical to use. The buying decision is modest: enough size for the task, a feel you find comfortable and a care routine that fits the rest of your training kit.
